The Future of AI Tools and the End of Social Networks as We Know Them

Sergei Almazov3 min read

I thought about the impact of the ChatGPT and such tools on the IT world and came to a conclusion I want to share today.

It's very exciting how AI tools influence our world already. Almost everyone knows about it, talks about it or use it on a daily basis.

The recent pandemic has shifted the way we interact with each other and the world. The internet has become a crucial part of our daily lives, allowing us to connect with others, work, and entertain ourselves from the comfort of our homes.

However, with the rapid advancement of AI tools, the way we consume and create content online is changing. As AI tools become more sophisticated, they are able to generate content that was previously produced by humans.

This shift towards AI-generated content raises questions about the future of social networks and social media as we know them. As AI tools take over the creation of content, the value of human interactions will become more pronounced. If AI generated content replaced human one - so where is the human?

People will no longer be able to prove their skills, intellect and abilities through their online presence, as AI tools will be able to create content that is indistinguishable from that created by humans. Instead, the only way to prove your thoughts and ideas will be through real-life interactions.

That's interesting part here. Just think about it. If it's too much information and too accessible, very cheap and uniform - the value of it will drop significantly.

I do expect in 2023 a lot of "books", "articles" and "posts", even videos will be generated. At the moment one service has already started AI generated TV cartoon show. The future is coming. That service expects to improve quality to the "Netflix level". CGI is cheap, with that new tools it will become more cheaper.

The trend towards real-life interactions has already begun. People are seeking out opportunities to connect with others in person, to have meaningful conversations, and to engage in activities that bring them joy and fulfillment. The pandemic has reminded us of the importance of human connections, and the desire to be with others will only continue to grow as AI tools become more prevalent. Returns to the office, offline conferences, meetups, socializing events. It's just a beginning. New beginning.

These events bring people together to share ideas, make connections, and engage in meaningful conversations. They provide a platform for people to network, learn new skills, and connect with others in their industry or community.

In this new reality, the value of real-life interactions will become even more important. People will no longer be able to rely on the internet to prove their worth, as AI tools will be able to mimic human intelligence and creativity. This shift will force people to look for ways to connect with others in meaningful and authentic ways.

The end of social networks in a current state will not mean the end of socializing. Instead, it will lead to a new era of human interaction, where the value of real-life interactions will be more highly valued than ever before.

I don't think popular networks will disappear, the inertia and the size of them is massive. But I am confident that will change drastically. So will change popular social media.

My conclusion is, as AI tools continue to advance, the value of human interactions will become more apparent. It's time to invest efforts in a communication, collaboration and presentation skills, be open minded and ready to interact with people in... offline world.

It's a bit funny to write because nowadays I hear more information about Web3, MetaVerse e.t.c. But looks like that future can be absolutely opposite :) Who knows?
